HIPAA Compliancy Checklist

We would like to introduce ourselves to local healthcare providers that are still struggling with HIPAA concerns and questions. While the healthcare sector continues to be heavily targeted by hackers, many providers are still behind in conformance to the best practice security policies in HIPAA and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.

In fact, the most recent CynergisTek report found that HIPAA conformance among healthcare organizations declined by 2 percent in the last year. And many healthcare providers are still performing well below what’s needed to address risk.

Specifically, the report determined an average of just 47 percent conformance with NIST, and more concernedly, about 72 percent with HIPAA. That means about 28 percent of organizations do not conform to HIPAA, especially around breach detection.

HIPAA violations are expensive. The penalties for noncompliance are based on the level of negligence and can range from $100 to $50,000 per violation (or per record), with a maximum penalty of $1.5 million per year for violations of an identical provision.

During the first quarter of 2020 we will be offering assistance in the form of a complimentary assessment of your current technology and how it complies with HIPAA regulations. We have partnered with PC Miracles a Technology Strategic Partner (TSP) with over 25 years of experience in technology standards and requirements.
